Halloween + Holiday Hacks
Halloween is one week from today BUT there are nuggets of info in here that you can use throughout the holiday season AND to help you prepare for next year. Tips are better late-ish than never, right? Follow these 3 simple applicable-to-any-holiday tricks to decrease the crazy and increase the fun.
CALENDAR IT
Have a lot of trick-or-treaters but can never remember how much candy to buy? Join the crowd. Create an “event” in your calendar on Halloween and add these oh-so-important details along with costume ideas, ghoulish recipes, and favorite pumpkin patches. Go ahead and create one for Hanukkah, Christmas and your partner’s b-day while you’re at it. You’ll thank me come gift buying or party planning time.
REVIEW FIRST
Go through your Halloween décor before you raid the Target aisles. If you’re like me, you picked up a few items last year on clearance and don’t need (but will always want!) to buy anything new. After reviewing, set a budget for this year’s must-haves and feel good knowing you did your homework first. (Note: read this again when you get down the Christmas bins!)
LABEL, LABEL, LABEL
When you pack up your Pinterest worthy (?) yard of decorations, tag your Halloween storage bins with bright, orange duct tape on the sides and the top (Christmas bins get green, Easter gets pink, you get the idea). This way, it’s easy to spot the spooky stuff when it comes time to haunt your house. Use this inexpensive trick to re-use old bins before you go spend unnecessary money on holiday specific bins.
Of course, a good purge of the bins before you put them back up would never hurt, either...but you knew that already. Happy Halloween!
